Alison- I'd have to agree: I don't miss the rewinding. Though there's something very satisfying about reeling the tape back as you witness the whole thing in front of our eyes. Very hard to explain to people who aren't familiar with the concept (ahem, generation alpha?) Hope you're well this week, Alison. Cheers, -Thalia
So very true! It was also a very physical thing because you can see the tape, which is something that digital misses. Same with actually holding a CD or recording your hand. There is something about that physicality that I miss.
Hope you are well, Thalia! As always, great to hear from you.
Alison, what an absolutely fantastic post. There are so many things here that I connected with. Byt, young lady (and I do mean Young lady, haha), if you want to talk about accumulated memories, piles of "things" and the emotional ups/downs involved in looking through it all...I turn 70 in August....I'll just leave it right there:) Anyway, like I said I could list over twenty of my favorite statements and mentions you made in this post. Really, truly enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing. - Jim (p.s.- I beg of you not to toss or give away the old WW1 Funk and Wagnalls set) Please don't.

Yes with CDs I love watching the glossy striations in the rings. Not the same as downloading MP3s I think. :)

Thank you so much, Jim! And I still have the complete set! I don’t think I’ll be able to get rid of them.
Sometimes I think it’s just better not to get emotionally attached to items but it’s hard not to.
Love this so much!
